While I’m on the subject of third grade… well, sort of, if you read my last blog post… you won’t want to miss the amazing read-aloud chapter book just made for third graders that I can’t wait to read to one of our classes myself. (My third grade grandson found it hilarious, even if it was about a girl!)
CLEMENTINE, by name… the title and heroine of a 2006 volume by author Sara Pennypacker with delightful illustrations by Marla Frazee. The book captures the escapades of quite the unpredictable girl in and out of school and her encounters with her fourth grade sometimes best friend, her teacher, principal, father, mother, little brother, neighbors, pigeons, and assorted vegetables. Your kids simply won’t want you to stop reading!
And there’s a sequel! The Talented Clementine.
